During every First Tuesdays open mic, we communally compose a cento using language taken from each open-mic reader’s offering. On October 1, 2013, those readers were: Scott Bankert, James McMenamin, Norman Stock, Steve Rafalsky, Amit Sarker, Sudipta Sarkar, Norka del Rios, Naomi Matten, Jack Feldstein, Fernando Guapo, and Lyn Marie.
Soon the cold will begin to make its way in,
murmuring turtle dialogue.
Someone knows where they’re going
who lifts flags up and casts flags down.
Love is something you put into me;
love is not something I put into you.
Something we can control.
No more dreams; no more tears;
a solution appears,
wearing your most protective mask.
Suddenly, a gorgeous gal appears
to caress its smoothness.
Her whisperous call is truly a siren.
